Masterplan, South Staffordshire College

Masterplan & Strategic Study

MCM was appointed to support South Staffordshire College in delivering three key projects at the Rodbaston Campus: a new Animal Care Facility, the refurbishment of the Green Energy Centre, and a comprehensive campus masterplan. These initiatives reflect the College’s ambition to enhance vocational education, embed sustainability, and future-proof its estate.

The campus masterplan provided a cohesive framework for current and future development, strengthening connections between facilities, improving outdoor learning environments, and integrating sustainable design principles across the site.

The long-term strategy aligns new and existing buildings with sustainable growth objectives. Priorities included enhanced connectivity, expanded outdoor learning opportunities, and phased implementation to support adaptability and carbon reduction. Major proposals include a new circulation route, a green energy spine, a photovoltaic (PV) field array, and an upgraded energy centre.

Throughout, we worked closely with College leadership, estates teams, and faculty to ensure the proposals responded to curriculum needs, operational requirements, and sustainability targets—delivering high-performance, cost-effective spaces for learning and growth.
